October 30, 1931: "J. G. Brown, who has been at the Girard forest lookout for some time, returned to his home at Castella last week." (The Dunsmuir News)
November 19, 1932: "The local office reports that the Girard ridge lookout station has been remodeled, giving added accommodations." (The Searchlight)
October 4, 1935: "Harvey E. Bispham of Dunsmuir, who has been stationed at the Girard ridge forest lookout station for the summer, arrived in Dunsmuir Wednesday. He will leave Sunday for Corvallis, Oregon, to enter the Oregon state university and continue his studies in forestry." (The Dunsmuir News)
October 9, 1942: "Julius Milton, employed as a lookout on Girard mountain, is confined to the Dunsmuir hospital. He was taken there early Wednesday morning and is seriously ill but believed to be improving." (The Dunsmuir News)
July 7, 1944: "Pauline Wike is the lookout on Girard ridge. She is here from Sawyers Bar in the Klamath national forest, helping out on the Shasta forest this summer." (The Dunsmuir News)
June 29, 1945: "The lady on Girard ridge, Pauline Wike, from Sawyers Bar and Texas, says it just like home to her and is spending her second season on this important hilltop." (The Dunsmuir News)
July 14, 1955: "Mrs. Elsie Carr, who has manned the Girard Ridge lookout for the past two seasons is leaving. Her husband is arriving this week to take her back to Oklahoma to live.
Mrs. Barbara Neasham will fill the vacancy for the remainder of the season. Mrs. Carr expressed regret at leaving her post. She says she will miss the beautiful scenery and the many friends she has here." (The Dunsmuir News)
