June 24, 1922: "E. Jennings of the State Highway Camp 3 on Willow Creek, returned yesterday from a short visit to Eureka. Beginning July 1st, Jennings will act as fire guard at the Lookout Station on Brannan Mountain for the Trinity Forest Service." (Blue Lake Advocate)
May 16, 1931: "A lookout has been established on Brannan mountain just over the Humboldt line and just south of the Hoopa reservation. This is for the detection of fires that Ironsides lookout near Burnt Ranch is unable to see." (Blue Lake Advocate)
August 23, 1932: "A fire was reported to the Salyer Ranger station by T. K. Walker, lookout on Brannan mountain at 6:38 p.m., August 11. Under the efficient leadership of Clem Bussell, fireman stationed at Salyer, the fire was soon under control, with three acres burned over." (Courier-Free Press)
