September 19, 1933: "Several horses arrived in Dedrick on the way up the creek to the spike road C.C.C. camp. They will be used to haul lumber to Balsam grove for the fire lookout, which is advancing rapidly.

October 10, 1933: "Mrs. Emily Rosebush and Mrs. John Biddle of Dedrick visited the new lookout station at Balsam grove last Tuesday after a long hike. The lookout is about two-thirds finished. The lookout is well built with a cement foundation." (Courier Searchlight)
June 5, 1934: "Men in the spike camp at Dedrick, working on the lookout road, are making good headway on the two miles of road to be completed there. Clearing has gone ahead steadily and with the bulldozer expected at the end of the week, progress should improve immensely. This road joins the Dedrick lookout with Canyon creek road." August 2, 1934: "Wayne Morris, bulldozer operators on the Dedrick lookout road, had a serious accident last Friday when he lost the middle finger of his right hand and the index finger crushed when when the blade he was changing fell on his fingers.
